Shopping is
one of the most popular hobbies in our modern life. Women and men like buying
something new, especially in sales, where you can find a fashionable dress with
a big discount.
Black
Friday is a day for shopaholics in the United States. A lot of American
people are going to a multinational retail corporation “Walmart”, where “record
numbers of workers plan to protest major retailers”, said “The Guardian” in its
issue of the 28th of November.
As the
author of the article, Dominic Rushe concentrates our attention on
dissatisfaction of workers of Walmart and shows us two different points of view
on conditions and wages in the main shopping centre of the US. He points
out on the fact that protests are planned at more than 1,500 of Walmart’s 4,000
US
stores on Black Friday, which is considered as a great number of disaffected
workers. According to the text we can see commentaries of different people,
including some of them who are for protests and another part of them who are
against it.
I found
this article topical, because the author touches upon the burning issues of our
today’s life. These conflicts in the US lead to serious problems not
only in economy, but in social and political spheres, because such conflicts
are the reason for walkouts. I believe that politicians should interfere in
this process and solve a problem of people’s welfare.
I’ve heard about such event as Black Friday and many protests after that.I think it’s not worth it. The retail industry likes to hype the sales up but for the most part, there are only a limited number of items available that people fight over like animals. Its called Black Friday because store make good profits. Furthermore, much of the stuff on sale is really low quality. Moreover there are many cases when people were seriously injured after Black Friday.
ОтветитьУдалитьBut still different people have different opinions about this event, but here is the commentary, which I completely support: “I never go out shopping on that date because it's madness. I want to live and besides, if I want to buy something, I'll just use the internet. I can find what I want and I save money too”.
Yes, I've heard about Black Friday. I don't think that it was a great idea to create such a day. Last year I saw a reportage from the USA about Black Friday. People behaved like animals. I can't see a point in it because after this day Christmas sales take place and you can buy anything you need with big discount. I support your point of view that politicians should interfere in the process. This unhealthy passion to shopping can cause damage, so the problem should be solved with the help of government.
ОтветитьУдалитьOf course, I have heard about Black Friday's protests in United States. On the one hand, I'm really happy, that Russians think differently. We adhere to the motto: "Sell a little but expensive". It doesn't mean, that it's bad, v.v. I think it's a very comfortable idea. In this way we can avoid of those terrible days like Black Friday in US. On the other hand, I regret that our country doesn't have such profitable days for shopping. I want to buy a lot of cheap things too. Unfortunately or fortunately, I have never bought anything in a sale.
ОтветитьУдалитьThis article seemed me very interesting and full of value. Thanks!
Thnks a lot for your article!
ОтветитьУдалитьI'm sure that enormous citizens of the USA are looking forward to Black Friday sales! This Friday is often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. As I know we have the same holiday for 'shopoholics' ang Russian Black Friday is 6 December 2013. Although in Russia the discounts won't reach such proportions as in the USA but buyers still have the opportunity to buy goods at deep discounts. The difference Black Friday in Russia from similar events in the U.S. is that our goods will be sold primarily through the Internet. I'm convinced if US customers sell everything by
Net all the protests and negative consequences wouldn't exist any more.
I've bought some things on a sale and I suppose it's a good way to save some money for more useful things.
